Using all the tools we have now learned we can start to create some interactive presentations. This can be done by modifying the objects as they appear on the page. We are going to focus on some of the different ways you can engage students by designing interactive lessons.
Reveal
One of the quickest ways to add interactivity to a lesson activity is to hide answers behind an object on the Smart Notebook page. There are four different methods that you can use to create reveal activities that can easily be integrated into any curriculum.
Move and Reveal
One way to create a reveal activity is to hide an answer behind another object
Type your question and answer
Draw a a shape and fill it in with a color that will hide the answer
Double click the shape for the ability to add text to it - ensure your text is a different color from the rectangle
You can add an instruction to the box. ex. - Move the box to reveal the answer.
You can use the Order function in the drop-down menu on any object to set the order of where the objects are. Bring the object that will cover the answer to the front.
To move the object, place your finger on the box and slide it away.
Erase and Reveal
Another way to reveal an answer is to use the eraser to erase away an object.
Type in your question and answer
Click on the pen tool. Chose an ink the same color as the background page. If it is white use a white colored pen and color over the text object.
Click the Eraser tool and erase the digital ink covering the answer. The Eraser tool will only erase objects created with digital ink Anything typed with your keyboard will not be erased.
Hidden Word and Reveal
The next way to reveal an object is by ordering the objects.
Create a shape object and fill it in with a color.
Create a question and answer. Type the answer in white ink. In order to see what you type type it over the shape.
Move the shape object.
When ready to reveal the answer move the shape over the white ink answer.
Make sure you use a font that can be read. Use Bold to make the answer stick out more.
Screen Shade and Reveal
The fourth way to reveal information is with the Screen Shade tool.
Type your question and answer
Click the Screen Shade button on the Smart Notebook Toolbar
Drag the Screen Shade So only the answer is covered
When ready, drag the Screen Shade so it no longer covers the answer.
